THE ROPING BOX

Times sure flies when you're having fun team roping!

1. SPOT:  Find and Focus on Your Spot.  Aim big rather than focusing on one small pin point spot.  When I head, my spot is back of the horn wrap.  For heeling, I focus on the left hip.

2. POSTURE: Don't collapse your shoulders and keep your chest open.

3. POSITION: Headers, stay wide! Heelers, don't let your pocket collapse.

4. SPEED: Relax! Don't get in too big of a hurry. Remember, you can't be going faster than the cow!

5. SWING: Keep your swing smooth.

6. SLACK: Really see the horns or both feet in your loop before you jerk your slack.

7. LEFT HAND: This is your money hand! Keep that left hand pushing forward toward your target, and forward as you dally.

8. HEELERS: Separation is not your friend! Keep squeezing forward. Separation causes you to slip legs and miss dallies.

9. HEADERS: If you are splitting horns, it is because you are too tight. Don't get in behind 'em. Stay left!

10. HAVE FUN!
